Simple Tips to Cut Down on Junk E-mail
E-mail may be fast and convenient, but it comes with a price – spam.
This junk e-mail can flood your inbox if you’re not careful.
Here’s how to combat spam.
1. Never reply to spam or unsubscribe to unwanted newsletters.
That just lets the spammers know they reached a real person and may lead to more spam.
2. Filter out spam.
Your e-mail account should provide a spam filter or way to funnel all bulk e-mails into a separate folder. you can also install anti-spam software, but be careful. some web sites offering free downloads are actually disguised spammers.
3. Consider a disposable e-mail address service,
Which creates a separate e-mail address that forwards to your permanent account. If one of the disposable addresses start receiving spam, simply shut it down.
4. Set up two e-mail addresses.
Give one only to family and close friends, and use the other for anything else.Share
